Our Data

Every number on this site comes from a named, verifiable source. We pull housing, income, and population data from the U.S. Census Bureau's American Community Survey, home value trends from Zillow Research, and price index data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Data is refreshed monthly as new releases become available.

How We Make Money

CostMapper is free to use. We earn revenue through display advertising and affiliate partnerships with services relevant to people who are moving or evaluating a new city — such as moving companies and home insurance providers.
